About me
With a double major (philosophy and comparative literature) Howard E. Cook received his BA from the University Tennessee in Knoxville. While living in Greenwich Village during the fabulous 60s, he worked on his novel THE WEED & THE WINTER SOLSTICE, did freelance chores for some of the major publishing houses in NYC, plus TIME, LOOK, and Fortune magazines and earned an MA in English at the City College of the University of New York City. Dipped into French language and literature at the Alliance Francaise and Schiller International University in Paris. He has taught both French and English in private and public schools from K through college.
His SWIFTER THAN EAGLES is a non-fiction novel telling the story of the 1946 insurrection on in Athens, TN, where he was born and now lives and writes. SWIFTER THAN EAGLES, was self-published in a limited edition of 2,500 copies and quickly sold out at $15 a copy. Still in demand SWIFTER THAN EAGLES has been offered on Amazon and eBay at prices above $600 a copy. The limited first edition of his novel THE WEED & THE WINTER SOLSTICE, with dust jacket art by José Argüelles, is also selling as a rare book.
His recently published non fiction work BE DONE ON EARTH postulates that eroticism and procreation are now becoming disjoint, that Christian metaphysics calls for universal eugenics under ecclesiastical auspices, and that these changes, already around us, constitute an evolutionary phase transition in which Homo sapiens will be replaced by their transhuman descendants. His present work in progress is a sequel to BE DONE ON EARTH. The working title is "COGS, The Church of the Second Coming." COGS is an acronym for three different terms: 1) Church of the Global Salvation, 2) Church of the Galactic Salvation, and 3) Church of the Gay Salvation, three inseparable modes of universal salvation. COGS, like BE DONE ON EARTH, views the current human situation from a millennial and cosmic perspective
